What Is Orthomolecular Facial Analysis?

You look in the mirror and notice things have changed.

Maybe your skin looks different. Your face feels like it's aging faster than it used to. You're noticing pigmentation, deeper lines, changes around your eyes, sagging, or other things that weren't there before.

Most of us are taught to look at these changes from the outside. Buy a new cream. Change your skincare. Try another treatment.

But what if we also looked at what was happening on the inside?

That's where Orthomolecular Facial Analysis comes in.

Looking at the face differently

Orthomolecular Facial Analysis looks closely at visible patterns in different areas of the face.

At Cellular Beauty, I look at things like skin tone and texture, lines, pigmentation and other specific facial signs. Rather than looking at one concern on its own, I look at the overall pattern.

The purpose is to explore whether those patterns may be associated with nutritional imbalances within the Cellular Beauty assessment system.

It's a completely different way of looking at your face.

Can nutrition really affect your skin?

Yes. This part isn't controversial.

Your skin needs nutrients to function normally. Vitamins, minerals, protein and essential fatty acids all play different roles in skin structure and function. Certain nutritional deficiencies are also known to produce visible changes in the skin.

But that doesn't mean every wrinkle, dark spot or change in your face is a nutritional deficiency.

Aging, hormones, genetics, sun exposure, lifestyle, medical conditions and many other factors can affect the way your skin looks.

That's an important distinction.

Orthomolecular Facial Analysis is not a blood test, and I am not diagnosing a nutritional deficiency from a photograph. It is an assessment method that I use to identify and map specific facial patterns.

So what actually happens during an analysis?

The entire process can be done virtually.

You'll send me six specific photos of your face from different angles. I use those photographs to complete your facial analysis and document the patterns I see.

From there, I create your personalized Cellular Beauty report.

If you decide to move forward with a protocol, it is individualized according to your analysis rather than giving everyone the same thing.

Why do we reassess at three months?

This is one of my favourite parts of the process.

After approximately three months, we take another set of photos and complete another analysis.

We're not relying on memory or simply asking, “Do you think you look different?”

We can compare what was identified initially with what is visible now and see whether those facial indicators have changed.

Your protocol can then be adjusted based on your new analysis.

Is this skincare?

No.

I love good skincare, but Cellular Beauty isn't another skincare routine.

Skincare works primarily from the outside. Cellular Beauty takes a nutritional wellness approach and asks us to look at the face from another perspective.

The two don't have to compete with each other.

You can absolutely take care of your skin externally while also paying attention to nutrition and what's happening internally.

Is Orthomolecular Facial Analysis medical testing?

No.

Orthomolecular Facial Analysis is an educational and wellness assessment. It does not diagnose medical conditions and should never replace bloodwork, medical testing or care from your healthcare provider.

If something concerning is happening with your skin or your health, it deserves proper medical assessment.

Why I love this approach

Because it changes the conversation.

Instead of automatically looking at a change in the mirror and thinking, “How do I cover this up?” or “How do I get rid of this?”, we can become curious about it.

Your skin is part of your body.

And sometimes, looking at the bigger picture gives us information we wouldn't get from looking at the surface alone.

That's what Cellular Beauty is about.

Why Does My Skin Look So Different in Perimenopause?

If you've hit your 40s and suddenly feel like your face is changing faster than it used to, you're probably not imagining it.

Maybe your skin feels drier. Fine lines seem more noticeable. Your face doesn't feel as firm. Pigmentation is showing up differently. Or you've suddenly discovered a chin hair that seems determined to return no matter how many times you remove it.

And sometimes the frustrating part is that you're doing all the same things you've always done.

So what changed?

Your hormones may be part of the answer.

Your skin changes when your hormones change

We hear a lot about hot flashes, periods and sleep when we talk about perimenopause.

We don't talk nearly enough about the skin.

Estrogen plays a role in collagen, skin thickness, elasticity and hydration. As hormone levels begin changing through the menopause transition, your skin can change too.

That can mean:

  • Drier skin

  • Changes in firmness and elasticity

  • More noticeable fine lines and wrinkles

  • Thinner skin

  • Changes in hair growth

It can sometimes feel like these changes happened overnight.

They didn't necessarily happen overnight, but perimenopause can make changes that were once gradual become much more noticeable.

Why doesn't my old skincare work the same anymore?

Because your skin isn't exactly the same anymore.

The moisturizer you loved at 35 may suddenly not feel like enough. Your skin may react differently to products. You might find yourself buying increasingly expensive creams and wondering why you're still not getting the results you used to.

That doesn't mean skincare is useless.

Good skincare, particularly daily sun protection, is still incredibly important.

But skincare is only working with one part of a much bigger picture.

Hormones, nutrition, genetics, sun exposure, stress, sleep, health and lifestyle can all influence how your skin looks and feels.

And what about the chin hairs?

This one catches a lot of women off guard.

Hormonal changes during the menopause transition can change the balance between estrogen and androgens. For some women, that can mean noticing more coarse facial hair, particularly around the chin and upper lip.

One random chin hair doesn't necessarily mean something is wrong.

However, sudden or significant facial hair growth, particularly when accompanied by other new symptoms, is something worth discussing with your healthcare provider.

Your face isn't suddenly failing you

I think this is an important conversation to have.

Women can reach their 40s and suddenly feel as though something has gone wrong with their appearance.

It hasn't.

Your body is changing.

And while we can't stop normal aging, understanding some of the things influencing those changes gives us more options than simply fighting what we see in the mirror.

Where does Cellular Beauty fit in?

This is where I take a slightly different approach.

With Orthomolecular Facial Analysis, I look closely at specific patterns visible in the face and consider whether they correspond with nutritional patterns used within the Cellular Beauty assessment system.

That doesn't mean I'm looking at your face and diagnosing perimenopause.

I'm not.

And it doesn't mean every change you see during perimenopause is caused by a nutritional deficiency.

Instead, we're looking at another piece of the picture.

Your hormones may be changing. Your skin may be changing. Your nutritional needs and overall health matter too.

Rather than assuming every concern needs another topical product, Cellular Beauty gives us a way to look more closely at the patterns your face is showing.

Maybe the question isn't “How do I stop aging?”

Maybe it's:

“What has changed?”

That's a much more useful place to start.

Because your face doesn't exist separately from the rest of your body.

And understanding what's happening inside your body can be just as important as deciding what you're going to put on your skin.
